A to Z or Z to A, Zenyatta and Rachael Alexandra are
one(s) of a kind
Ralph Siraco's Blog
November 2009
When
last we blogged, we were espousing the efforts of getting Rachael
Alexandra and Zenyatta to throw it down at the Breeders' Cup. Of
course, it never happened. So, we were left with yet another "dream
showdown" at the Breeders' Cup that never materialized. And, for the
second year in a row, it was a BC run on synthetic racing surface.
Thus, Big Brown/Curlin take two with Zenyatta and Rachael Alexandra was
left to a dream that never came true and an abundance of
subjective, objective and in some cases rejective debate again. Thus,
we will not go into the pros and cons of each, the exciting perfect
performances or the unparallel merits of same, but, instead bask in the
glow of knowing we have just lived through a "Hailey's Comet" vintage
year of equine excellence. Make no mistake, whomever the Eclipse Award
is ultimately awarded, both ZENYATTA and RACHAEL ALEXANDRA ARE WINNERS.
Way beyond a gold trophy or engraved plaques. Only those of us
documenting the unbelievable but undeniable path each took to their
respective mantals, we are left to realize that we may never pass this
way again. More to come.........
HAVE A GREAT RACE DAY.
